Delivery management is the process of managing the delivery of work. It deals with the planning and execution of work, workflow management, project management, and resource allocation.

Delivering projects on time is a very important KPI for delivery managers. It means that they have effective project management and workflow tracking processes in place.

In most organizations, the delivery manager is responsible for planning the project, scheduling tasks. Also, monitoring progress, communicating with stakeholders and controlling risks. 

They also have to allocate resources, track progress, and report status to the stakeholders regularly. As such, a KPI like project plan completion rate is critical for delivery managers. 

It’s a measure of how well they manage and plan projects.

KPI For Delivery Management: Managing Risks And Issues

Risk and issue management are two important aspects of delivering projects on time. A KPI for delivery managers is to measure how well they manage risks and how effectively they handle issues in their projects. 

To do that, you can use metrics like risk management cycle time or issue resolution rate. These will give you an idea of how well your delivery managers are managing risks and issues in their projects.

The performance of the team is another critical KPI for delivery managers in organizations. If a team isn’t performing well or there are issues with their performance. 

Also, team members not meeting deadlines or not completing tasks on time. Then your project as a whole won’t be delivered successfully on time either. 

That’s why it’s important to track your team’s performance regularly. Using metrics like task complete rate, employee satisfaction rate, etc. 

You can also conduct surveys to get feedback from employees on their experience working with the team leader. And their effectiveness as a manager.

When you combine these metrics with others like task cycle time or employee turnover rate. So you can generate a more comprehensive scorecard for your delivery managers.

It is to monitor how well they manage their team’s overall performance as well as other aspects of their job. Such as resource allocation or risk management effectiveness. 

So this will help them improve their performance over time. So that they can deliver projects more effectively on time in the future.

What Are The Disadvantages Of Delivery Management KPI?

In many cases, delivery management KPI is used to measure the performance of delivery managers. It means that it becomes a way for organizations to measure the performance of their managers. 

This is often done without considering effectiveness measures for things like project planning and risk management. So it’s easy to fall into the trap of using metrics like delivery on time or project plan completion rate. 

These are great at measuring the efficiency of delivery managers. But not so good at showing you the effectiveness of their work, because there are many other factors involved. 

For example, if we use project plan completion rate as a KPI for delivery managers all by itself. Then we can miss out on other metrics that affect its performance like resource allocation or employee turnover rate. 

So in short, not all delivery management KPIs are effective. And they don’t give you a complete picture of how well your managers are performing their job.
